Our little goat farm is located in Vermilion, Ohio. Megan Brandich and Deb Brandich built this farm by hand in 2010. A mother-daughter duo manages a herd of Nigerian Dwarf dairy goats for the purpose of milk, breeding and showing. Our family started out with nothing but a dream and a will to learn. Our hobby farm started in the fall of 2010 when we purchased our first Pygmy goat. Sadly we learned the hard way how to raise goats by not doing proper research. Goats are herd animals meaning they need other goats to interact with. Goats also need a proper diet and do not eat everything like the movies say! We purchased our first goats from a backyard breeder who was not knowledge enough to teach us about proper herd health, nutrition, medication, supplements, hoof care, selective breeding and neonatal care. Our wealth in knowledge was obtained by trial and error, college and touring respectable breeding operations. Our farm has come a long way since the start but we are not finished yet. I, Megan Brandich, had an interest in breeding goats in 2012. Our first goats were born in April of 2013 but they were mixed between Pygmy and Nigerian. Many people do not know what a true Pygmy goat looks like thus they market any small goat as "pygmy" when in reality they are most likely mixed between the two breeds. This happened to us! I joined 4H in 2012 and stayed in the organization until 2019 when I aged out. The 4H program offers life skills such as responsibility, communication, budgeting, record keeping, creativity, gardening, and the list goes on. You do not need to own livestock to participate in 4H. You can live in the city or country and exhibit anywhere from still life projects, flowers/vegetables to livestock and equine. The opportunities are limitless. Throughout my years in the 4H & FFA program I learned how to show dairy, market, Pygmy, and pack goats. Each year I gained knowledge in the dairy goat world changing the view and goal of my herd. I changed from breeding mixed goats to adding purebred ADGA registered Nigerian Dwarf goats to the herd. We did eventually sell all our mixed goats but their are a couple descendants who earned a spot in the herd through grading up. You will see some goats with the name "Buckeye State Minis" infront of their name. Those are descendants of our original herd members. However, with selective breeding they no longer have Pygmy in them and have excelled as functioning dairy goats even though they are not papered. After purchasing purebred Nigerians I joined ADGA and created the herd name Lil'Buckeyenuts. We no longer purchase does off property so we do inbreed some but outcross our bucks. We pride our herd in the performance programs and now the show arena. Our herd is tested annually for CAE and Johnes with no evidence of CL.
We do NOT sell meat goats and will NOT sell any goat if the purpose is to consume it.
We are a private family farm and NOT a petting zoo. Please do not come to our farm as we do not host tours.
